Esté Gross is an award-winning radio presenter and singer who also gained fame as a columnist. Over the years, she has established herself as a versatile presenter, newsreader, program compiler, columnist, singer, and songwriter.

In 2024, she received a Junior Koker Award from the Afrikaans Language Council for her “extensive contribution to the Afrikaans media world, which has, through her excellent work, enriched various domains of Afrikaans in an outstanding and exceptional way.”

As a singer and songwriter, she released Hemelruim, Deur Die Storm, Weerklink, and more recently Die Deur. Hemelruim, which she recorded with Len Muller, received an Aitsa Music Award in 2022 for Spiritual Song of the Year. Weerklink (2023) was nominated as a finalist in the same category at the Aitsa Music Awards.

Dr. Wilhelm Lichtenberg invited her to record the duet I Believe as a guest artist. In 2023, they were also nominated as finalists for an Aitsa Music Award in the category Best Classical Song.

Esté’s broadcasting career began at the SABC’s Afrikaans radio station RSG. Over a nine-year period, she filled several roles—from documentary producer, breakfast show host, and music series compiler to program conceptualist and specialist newsreader. Several of her documentaries and interviews were nominated for an ATKV Media Veertjie. She also received a nomination as Best News Bulletin Reader at the National Radio Awards in 2022.

She joined Pretoria FM and increasingly focused on news and current affairs, creating and conceptualizing new programs.

In 2023, she was named Best Afternoon Program Presenter at the national Telkom Radio Awards for the current affairs program Klankkoerant-Laatmiddag. That same year, she became the host of Pretoria FM’s news and current affairs show Impak, airing from 13:00–14:00, and was nominated as a finalist in the Telkom National Radio Awards (2024) for Best News and Current Affairs Presenter at a community radio station.

As a columnist, she wrote for nearly eight years for Beeld/Netwerk24. A collection of her columns titled Weerkaats was published in 2023 and is available through Naledi.
